When I pulled into the park this morning at 630am, the fog was heavy and I was completely alone. I spotted this park using Google Earth a couple of weeks ago, and added it to my short list for a couple of reasons.

I like it is because it is in a “hidden” location. Unless you live in the neighborhood, or are searching for it on Google Earth, you would never know it’s there. It is less than four-miles from my home, and I had no idea it was there.

The second reason I put it on my short list was the type of neighborhood it’s in, solid middle-class. I have found that playgrounds located in really wealthy areas (Scarsdale; Bronxville; Purchase), usually give up only pennies, because the nannies bring the kids – not Mommy, Daddy or Grandma.

I had two-hours to burn before getting ready and heading into Manhattan, so I got the kneepad on, strapped on my finds bag and chip digger, and got to work. When my telephone alarm clock went off I couldn’t believe it! Two hours had flown by and I wasn’t even 1/3 of the way through this bad boy! Wow, what a workout. I dug over 100-targets in two-hours. As Arnold says, “I’ll be back.”

Great find with the research. :icon_thumright:

I do the same thing at home when I'm reasearching new hunting spots.

I also do it with google maps on my phone. I'll head out to a new area then turn on the GPS in the phone and let the map find my location then I'll search for Park or Playground and hit something in the area. It's a great way to find new spots.

I do the same thing with Banks when I'm on road trips CRHing.

I've found quite a few parks and banks that are hidden away and you would never know were there unless you lived in the area.

Nice finds... Hope the ground was nice and easy to dig, as that is some serious digging right there!

I found the exact same key this summer!
Hey, what's with the Canadian quarter eh! :laughing7:

I like this 'big bling' ring!
Nice finds,
Dave

Thanks Sean! Research really is important to success in this hobby – no doubt!

WldBil, wood chips baby! Only thing easier is the beach.

BabyNamedLinda, it’s neat right? I’ll send it to you if you really want it with my best wishes – PM me with your address!

Ant – Way cool! Freaky, but cool. Kinda like Chucky Cheese tokens – they’re everywhere! Yeah, the Canadian quarter was a freak find for sure, and that ring overloaded the machine!

Thanks again everybody! :notworthy:

I found a key like that just last week. Wonder what it goes to?
You have some super finds there. Way to go. There's probably lots more waiting to be discovered :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

That key goes to non police issue handcuffs. Or what I call playcuffs.

That was a heck of a workout, Terry! Nice finds!! I love hunting the parks, and especially in the wood chips...so easy to locate and find items! Just curious, were you searching deep targets, or shallow? I have an Ace 150, and usually search the wood chips on a medium depth setting. Again, congrats, and I look forward to seeing what you get the next 1/3 of your searching of that place! :icon_thumleft:

any PSU class rings in that tot lot?

DV, I use way too much machine for wood chips! It is a Tesoro Lobo Super Traq. It is a gold nugget hunter, running at 17.5Khz. I turn the power way back and half the sensitivity, then discriminate iron only. My average recovery depth in chips is 4", with "deep" finds being about 9" - and those are 1960-1970s coins.

nice ring ...congrats !
