Hi all;
My detecting buddy Dan wanted to go do some relic hunting instead of hitting the beach. No problems there. Seasons over , no fresh drops and to early for storms to wash away the sand here in So Cal. There's not a lot of old abandon places around here , but i knew of a place that had nonnative plants and the remains of some retaining walls. No foundations , maybe someone was going to build a house ? The driveway/road is now overgrown with a single trail. It goes about 1/4 mile to the clearing with the plants. At that spot Dan found a wheat penny and i found a 1974 penny and a 1974 dime , not in the same hole.
The trail continued about another 100 yards to a spot that was once cleared but now was over grown . There the trail ended, there was no indication of any human activity , no beer caps , glass , toilet paper , nothing , except you could tell it had been cleared of the brush once upon a time.
So Dan whips out his detector and immediately gets a hit. he starts to dig and hits a piece of sheet metal. Dan's imagination starts going wild. " we're out here in the middle of no where , people cover cashes under things like this !" Then he said "dead body's also". The Red Bull was kicking in so we kept digging. And digging ,and digging. then we saw some lettering. We had a sign , now we need to know what it says. So we kept digging and digging and digging. Now get this , all we had were our Lesche hand digging tools.

After those two pictures my phone died. After i got home , while my phone was charging i cleaned the sign and mounted it on my fence.

The black line across the sign is a shadow.
And yes we filled the hole back in.

Congrats on the Ice Cream Sign.
I would have to reward myself with an ice cream Sundae after an adventure like that.

That is a lot of digging with a small Lesche! Congrats! :icon_thumleft:
