Back to old stomping grounds and was rewarded with a few cool things. The weather man called for 30% of rain today but it rained most of the day...figures.

I've found a few of these now...I believe they are gun/rifle related. Ram rod thimble?

Trade musket side plates are always very cool to find, I have never found a full one.

The Owen Sound was stranded in 1884 around here and sank in 1901....this is second tag I've found from this shipwreck.

What's the significance of the Owen sound tag?

The fact that it was from an 1884 shipwreck that washed ashore. I love that kind of stuff like when someone finds a gold coin from a shipwreck on the florida coast. Just my opinion!!!!!!!!! Mel Fisher stole my dream finding all those Galleons!!!!!!

Congratualtions on the cool finds! :occasion14:

Yes, those are ramrod pipes from a trade gun, would have been on a gun with the serpent side plate. Nice find!

I also found another luggage tag a few years back. The ship was built by Mystic Marine Railway & Machine, Mystic, Ct. in 1883. It was lost on August 18, 1903 near Michipicoten Island (on Lake Superior). I'm pretty sure there are none of these around anywhere.

Raddest side plate I've ever seen, and the other history is important. Thanks for posting.
