I had got off work this morning and had about 4 hours before I had to head home. I had headed to a local Little League ball field , if anything a little clad. And I found it. about 32 cents worth. Little League season is winding up here . About 9 am the cars started showing up for practice. I decided to bug out . Cant exactly swing the coil while "little Joey" is shagging pop-ups" .
Where to go ? There was a place in mind . A little park I had been before . It is in the oldest part of town, a small neighborhood park. And, it's packed full of small trash below the soil. I had only found a clad penny , dime or quarter here or there. But it was so noisy I would leave. This time I was going to take a "different" approach. I brought my MXT with a D2 coil. Same detector as last time here.
I knew the trash would be a pain , so I decided to just have fun for a couple hours. I cranked the discrimination all the way clockwise. The gain to +3, ran Relic mode secondary search ( trigger forward ). I knew nickels were not going to be on the menu today. but at least I could get through the mind numbing trash.
I started swinging . started to get targets. Clad penny here, Wheat there. a Merc, a Silver quarter, some clad quarters ( lots) . And I had realized something. This little park is smack dab in the middle of a older residential neighborhood. It seems no one has detected here before. Stuff coming up is fairly shallow and old. 40's ,50's , 60's to 2008 If they had swung here the trash drove them away.
And then .... 5 feet from the tot lot, another +94 VDI. Sounds like another aluminum can bottom. But I had been running max discrimination, and it sounded a bit different amongst the silenced trash signals. great signal though . 6 inches down , she popped out >
I felt vindicated . I felt like I had really earned it . the place looks ok , but is a metallic mess under ground. I had not found big silver in about six months, and she was in great shape.
The next 40 minutes it was a small quarter party. Only reason I found a nickel .. was stuck to a quarter.
Who knows whats down there now. ( Alot of Trash) Glad I didnt give up on "Little Trash Park" today.
