Glenn: I didn't get a reply from you to my PM so I'll ask you here. Are you going to pick me up? In case you didn't receive my PM, I said that my nephew-in-law's wedding had been postponed 'cause his father went to India but extended his trip until June so I'm able to attend the 2008 Great Cloves Lake Treasure Hunt.

Also, about the logistics. How are you handling expenses for food, tolls, gas, to and from?

Don't leave the old man behind! But IF your car is full, I'll understand.

Silver Fox

FYI: The Weather Channel predicts the temperature to reach 77 degrees! :icon_sunny: Bring sun protection.

BTW, is anyone bringing a Bounty Hunter Land Star or similar?

Thanks Glenn. I'll bring what's left of my last probe so that you can inspect and try it. I just realized that I made a mistake on the date and the reason why I asked you if you were going to pick me up is because I thought the event was tomorrow (24th) which was bolstered by someone saying they wished they could attend but they were working. So I just looked at the heading and see that it IS on the 26th! Whew! My wife just told me that the 26th is definitely better, weather-wise as the temp on Saturday is going to be in the pleasant 60s.

Re: TRI STATE NY/NJ/CT GET-TOGETHER DATE SET!!! APRIL 26TH - WEATHER UPDATE!

My wife told me a few minutes ago that the weather on Hunt Day, Saturday 26th, was going to be in the pleasant 60s and I said so on my last post also a few minutes ago. :-[ WRONG! I just saw the weather for the week and Saturday THROUGH Tuesday IT'S GOING TO BE RAINING! Soak city! :'(
I know Sunday was the rain date and, sure enough, it's going to rain on Sunday! :D

We need to hear from you, Glenn, toot suite! :-\

Hey Everyone,
Don't go getting your boxer drawers in a twist, Saturday is the day, it's supposed to be a beautiful day, 65* a nice cool breeze and not a lick of rain in sight. http://www.accuweather.com/forecast.asp?partner=forecastfox&traveler=0&zipcode=10001&metric=0

I do have Sunday scheduled as the rain date, I'll see you all on Saturday though.

Glenn
I don't understand. I checked the URL and AccuWeather makes it look like it's going to be ideal weather to be outside enjoying our hobby. Yet The Weather Channel, which also boasts "AccuWeather," on Channel 72 via Time Warner cable is just the opposite. In a couple of minutes (8:08pm) Weather on the 8s is coming on and I'll check it.

Here it comes: Well, I waited a half-hour for the weather update but they have a war documentary on. But, it doesn't matter we still have plenty of time before Saturday. I do wish it would rain on Friday to wet the ground for us. I do like YOUR weather, though.

BTW, you'd never catch me wearing boxer shorts, I did that in the Air Force back in the '50s. :o

I hate the weather people anyway here is my rant LOL

I can't believe you actually ranted! :o That is NOT cool! ;D But then again, you have every right to rant about the a__h___s! :tongue3: I do! It's a waste of time but you gotta vent when they open their news with some stupid sport jock doing this or doing that instead of the important events that happen worldwide!

Besides, I've been involved with newsworthy events and I've called them in asking the various news stations AND newspapers to send a news team or just an individual with a camera to record what I was calling about and they're just not interested. All you see them do is read the prompters and shuffle papers. And for this you need a journalistic degree? Of course, we gotta have a news ANCHOR! For crying out loud! (Hey! I'm ranting on your dime!)

Or like you say, give me the weather all at once. Don't tease me! And their accuracy is not to be taken lightly! Hah! How many times have they been wrong? I look out my window and I see rain but they're telling us how nice the weather is! Yeah, inside their studio!

Here are some photos of what happened a few weeks ago right in front of my apartment building which didn't make the TV news or newspapers even with my efforts.

The truck in front of my apartment building hit a car or cars, eventually 5 vehicles had to be towed away! I don't know if anyone was hurt. Eventually, a cameraman showed up and I asked him if he was interested in seeing my photos and he declined. And there was nothing left for him to videotaped as shown on my 12 photos. What a waste.

P.S. Sorry about the extra large photos, I just spent time with Picasa bringing them down to 640X480 then I mistakenly downloaded the medium-sized ones I processed in case of news interest. I don't like to overload the bandwidth here.

Well the weather sure is making things interesting, who said the rain word? :icon_scratch:

As of now the weather for Saturday is going to be nice with a 25% chance of a shower passing thru at about 11am. I can deal with that, not a real problem.

Sunday is looking grim, they are predicting 9 hrs. of rain from 8pm Saturday til 5am Sunday that could make for some very muddy uncomfortable hunting if the weather pattern holds true. If the weather shifts, it could be raining for a good bit on Sunday.

Saturday is still the day, you know, the day after tomorrow

Glenn

OK! I'm definitely on for Saturday. I'm highly disappointed that they're calling for rain after the beautiful work week we had :( Oh well. I'll just bring plenty of plastic bags for my Exp. Won't be the first time I've hunted in the rain :)

Sounds good, hell, I'll bring some plastic bags along.
