Came early because the following finds are from a few weeks ago. My daughter her husband and young grandchildren were visiting. After the little ones fell asleep me and my son in law donned the headlamps, filled our "happy bottles" and walked down the street to my brother in laws property.
We dug a bunch of typical junk and boom!, I get a nice short sweet high sound. Up comes a nice
" HH "barber dime, HH= Henry Harrison?,Herbert Hoover?, I'm thinking, one is too early and one is to late, so maybe it's a Happy Halloween Barber
?
So much for the treat, now the trick ( I'm sure no one can relate). I'm a little stoked after finding the barber dime at the very edge of the front sidewalk. I continue to hunt the edges of the sidewalk and while swinging the coil from the left side of the sidewalk to the right I get another crisp high tone, but much louder right in the middle of the cement sidewalk seam. Of course, we're thinking "silver dollar"! I walk back to my house and grabbed a 5' pry bar, we flipped the old sidewalk slab and were rewarded with....... A FREAK-N Coca Cola can 60 or 80 years newer than that sidewalk! Oh well, still we had a lot of fun!
My son in law found the Big Creek ( Coal Mine Co.) token in my back yard while I was working (8"s down, iffy #'s) not to shabby considering how many times it's been combed.
