Tried it again at the site with mold and not much luck for the amount of time put in this hunt. Was able to come up with some buttons, jews harp, old musket shot( alot of this stuff),piece of thimble, and other things that I'll need to shock a little. But can't complain as I've been couped up here for four days cause of the storm so it was good too enjoy the sun today.
But this is it guy's you win some you loose some! :laughing9:

I think though I'm going to lay off of it as not sure but I think the guilt that's left not to good. And is coming off I'll let her be at this I just don't see it shining no more cause theres nothing there. But glad to know this method for next time on these type.

I have a good post in the cleaning and preservation forum under the title "How to clean buttons."

Still some cool finds found. If you're finding that many keepers at this point, then the spot still deserves to be hit again and again.

Best Wishes,

Buckles

It's great to see you got back while the ground was wet Pete. Those are some nice finds and I hope at the end of the year you post a big spread of everything you pulled from the site. It should be amazing! I wonder about that slightly domed silvered button to the right in the third picture. It can easily be written off as a civilian, but it has that military look about it too, back when plain silvered buttons were prescribed for certain uniforms. Like everyone said, great site, and you have yet to hit it with a 15" or a five inch so you're nowhere near done! (Then you've got to pick up an underwater detector for the river and fight the water moccasins! :D) Good luck next hunt! :icon_thumleft:

Your site is still producing outstanding relics. I personally would like to see two new photos of the thimble, a good side shot and a top view. Trying to determine the age of it, looks 17th or early 18th century, but would like to see the top view especially.

Sure thing Don,always thrilled to learn somthing.I hope these will do. Both of these two thimbles have came from this site. And look similar now that you spoke of them.Maybe the one being a little more dome shaped.

Killer site for sure, Pete-ster!!!! :headbang: :headbang: That potential Rev War tudor is another find to chalk up on the site find list. Whoever settle there in the early to late 1700s was prominent and well-to-do. :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: I bet he wore solid silver knee and shoe buckles. :notworthy:

Keep swinging away with your Colonial passion.
