TRIED SOME NEW FIELDS

Some new land has been harvested & we are on the Hunt for a Roman Villa.
First field didn't get much other than a poor William III (1690s) Silver Sixpence which has been bent into a Love Token.

Second Field had loads of modern rubbish but did get a US Great Seal Button.

Last field I wanted to try near where we had some Roman stuff last year. I got the 3 Roman Coins & Dad got a 1620s Royal Farthing. I finished with a good buckle.

So tomorrow try again but if we don't have much luck we will be back to the productive area where we had the Viking strapend.

Very difficult this time of year - try the unknown or go with the good area you know

I think its 20th century heavy horse tack related (the horse's which ploughed the fields). I have found many over the years.

Crusader,

Back in May I took a two-week trip through Southern England. Beautiful country and an amazing time. Sadly, I didn't detect while there. I've gotta get back sometime soon and get to it. I'm so, sooooo jealous of all you detectorists across the Pond! Relic hunting must be amazing!

Thanks, yeap its so exciting that years after I started my Dad got hooked as well. He has little interest in History but caught the bug after using my backup machine.

We were both digging this weekend expecting that a Roman Silver Coin would pop up any minute. We were digging in hot conditions, sweating like crazy not concerned about how much our backs & arms hurt. Wasn't to be, but we know its just around the corner & maybe a Gold!
