Where better to come for a firearm ID than the 2A loving folks over in the good ol' US or A.
What era are we talking with this trigger guard and evem better what kind of gun?

Tough to say but perhaps mid 1800s - early 1900s

Could be from a shotgun, rifle or pistol.

I've seen trigger guards that wide on old, muzzleloading long guns (not pistols). They also could be on a double trigger double barreled gun.

I would say most likely flint lock. The two that I have wide guards.
