Nice, it must be pretty common to have the date on the house like that. There's one just like it on rte. 40 near Pole Tavern,not far from the circle.

It was customary at the time. You sound pretty knowledgeable about the area for someone from VA!
 

I lived in Vineland for 20 yrs before I moved to Va and was a driver at UPS so I got around the SJ area, I get back that way every other month to visit my family.
