I think the author added "true" to the title, to help the reader believe these stories are true.
Mr. White is a Long Range Locator fan, having "no need for metal detectors", even though he was sure of a location of 1,000 Double Eagle Gold pieces, just below the surface.

On a couple digs where the LRL indicated gold, they found a concentration of fine gold, so fine they "couldn't see it with the naked eye", but some how knew it was there. The author had no use for these located deposits, because he "is not a Gold miner", but a treasure hunter.
One story they run out of water in 110 degree plus temps, but complete the hike back by taking salt tablets.

A few pictures of holes, caves, rocks, but not one treasure.
I was some what entertained by the book, but over all disappointed.
