Beach & Shallow Water Hunting
I can't believe today's hunt...2 1/2 hrs. on wet slope and early shoreline as tide was receding.

Dropped Hank off for his golfing, and headed to one of my favorite beaches; hunted a steep wet slope.

In the first 5 minutes, I recovered the Washington; a few minutes later, the "Roosie"...and later the "merc" showed up.

I spent 2 hrs. gridding an area horizontally and vertically, with just coins and a bit of junque ( including 4 1/2 spoons) to show for the effort.

Decided to do a diagonal grid on the same area...and soon I heard that low "growly" tone ...just like yesterday.

(Now this is proof of how careless I can be out there...should have picked this up on the H & V grid... :>(

Scooped out a signet ring :hello2:...looks antique maybe; but the center is full of a solid , unmovable cement -like substance.???

I've been electrolyzing it for over an hour and a half...not much progress.:icon_scratch:

I have no idea how else to get rid of this rock hard substance

Any suggestions would be deeply appreciated.

Will have to post the pic of the ring later when/if I can get it fully cleaned

Here's some preliminary pics.

That sure looks like and old ring. Been out there a long time. Might want to try and drill a small hole in the center of the crust, it may clean easier.

Very nice...

Nice ring...youve been tearing it up...congrats...never seen one with the center full like that, had to take a long time to corrode up that solid.

Before I could even finish your thread you had it figured out when I saw the first pic. of the ring I thought there was a coin in the center when you get two dissimilar metals together you get some strange things going on. And I have to say something you and your spoons . Good times !

You have been on fire! Really nice find.

You too are "on a roll". Very nice, I wish you continued success.

Awesome finds Lorraine! Nice job getting the dime out of the ring too:occasion14:! That beach must have been quite the beach picnic site back in the day!

lovely oldie - that slope looks like fun and obviously is! great hunting Lorraine.

nice finds congrats HH

Thank you , SorryDangDog
I only was able to salvage that little bit of arc shaped metal....a dime was photographed to show how the segment that remained fit into the size of a dime.

Wow!! At frist it looked like yellow gold!!!
I have found many signets never a white gold one!!!
Very cooool!!!

SnT

Wow, another beautiful ring, and the dime stuck inside is really interesting. Too bad so little of it was left. I love the variety of things that you are able to find.

Thanks, SnT...

Apologies for the poor photo technique:

This ring is yellow gold; the room lighting where I photo'd it is not the best lighting to bring out the gold.

Wow did that ever clean up beautiful. I love when a mystery is involved in a find

Nice finds congrats

you lucky bum
cool find
