Well I got through the pile I posted last night. I got a few keepers out of the pile I had. I got some nice flake tools and a Beak Scraper or 2. Quartz points and Scrapers and the best flint pieces I put in a frame. I found all of these flint pieces in the frame rite above where I found the Dalton base. They are early tools and do fit the period. If you know the type and period of any of these points please do tell. Thanks, rock

I forgot......they were found in N. Ga. and not in water.

NICE HUNT !!!!!

You have a broken Morrow Mountain rock.
That's an archaic point about 5-7 thou. BP. So the rest of the pieces may likely be the same...but its a field so who knows.
Good hunt.

Yeah all of the quartz was on the other side of the hill in one area. The flint was the other side just about 50 ft above the Dalton base location. I forgot one in my bucket till just now. The water was muddy and I just saw it. Here it is I believe it is a Graver/Scraper

Yeah I was like a kid out there. I was going back today but when I woke up the kid was gone, lol. My back and leg cramps. But it rained today so my next day off I will go back. The flint and quartz was every where.

Go get us killer to look at! Good luck.

Most of the big ones have been eaten by the plow. I find allot of large thick flint pieces that are worked. But just pieces and just too far gone to even get a guess what they once were. But if I do find a nice one you will see it. Thanks for the I.D. on the quartz point Gator. Seems like most of the quartz ones are from that period.

Sure rock.. you'll get one soon.. seems like good ground your on.

So the quartz artifacts are sitting on what? Check the photo. Its the only one I have ever found. One of my first finds.

Well..its dirty and tough to see much depth in the photo..but it looks like it has a round indention and could be a matate.

ding you got it. Yeah when its clean you can see the dimple. I was fishing a pond one day and went up the hill to go home and tripped over it. I looked to see what the heck it was and then I saw the dimple on it. lol true story. Found it about 4 yrs ago.

Nice finds Rock. I really like the quartz pieces. I have never found one in this area. mostly flint or slate. I like the looks of them. I think they really stand out from the rest of them. I am traveling to Phoenix Arizona the week of April 8th on business so I won't be getting out to hunt. I will be back in full force the week after. Hope to have some more to post. Keep'em coming Rock....

Thanks. You know they have arrowheads in Arizona I am sure. Maybe you will see some dirt that needs a look while you are there. Drive careful my friend.

Some Arizona material

Those quartz stemmers are hard to I.D.Rock but it sure looks like you are getting close to pulling a nice one out of that spot. You have hunted a lot.

Yeah I hunt 2-3 times a week. I love the outdoors. But soon the grass will take one hunting day out of the week. The owner just told be yesterday there is another field he has for me to hunt on. He said the next time I am off to give him a call and he will show it to me 8-)
