After yesterdays Saxon Silver Gilt Brooch Fragment we needed to show the owners before it disappeared into the near 2 year system. However, whilst we were out that way there was a Roman Site that we last did in 2018 & it was in perfect condition. (drilled & rolled - Land-Mag had already given us the heads up - THANKS)8-)
As luck would have it I had the Roman Silver whilst finishing off Cru'dad's run, had he gone over it with the 9" coil he would of missed it. With my Deus 11" coil it was a tiny scratchy faint signal, that even after a scrap down an inch or so with the boot hardly improved it.:icon_thumright:
I did 5 hours gridding & Cru'dad 4.5 hrs.

36 Roman Bronze Coins (now 4 off 1000 this year)
Iron Age / Celtic Fibula (Brooch)
Roman Fibula
Broken Roman Nail Cleaner
Small Roman Pendant
Roman Bracelet Bits
Roman Bracelet made into a Child Ring
Bits
RARE - Siliqua of Eugenius AD 392-94, Lyons Mint, Roma Reverse. (only our 2nd of this Emperor, & the other was bronze, so our first silver)
Although bashed around, its in EF condition & here is one currently for sale ($1825):

This one sold in 2016 in the UK for £550:

So, a pretty valuable coin for a Siliqua (not for sale though)!

Thanks again for the kind comments. It's hard to stop smiling or laughing when doing this well.
Yesterday, saw how my (coached) newest hobbyist father & son team were getting on & the son has already got a hammered silver & the Dad a debased Roman Silver. (after gridding the right spot) I find myself as excited for them as they are to get out again before the drilling starts & the window closes. We talk about it, & before long he leaves work early to give himself enough time before band practice. I said soon you wouldn't have a band.:laughing9:
He stated he thought his son had a gold coin the other day when he excitedly skipped over to him to show him a broken Saxon Brooch. They even managed to ID it correctly, after less than a couple of weeks in the hobby.

2020 is our year, all-round & because most of our Roman Silver have been above average, instead of most being below. I wish every year was like this but sooner or later, we will need some new sites. Plus we will have a run of lesser examples, I would expect. (just the way it rolls)
