turtle effigy????

this comes out of a enormous collection out of ohio, they have 5 lizard effigies but this ones a little diff. i think it was made like this cause the natural banding for the head tail and body. it is a very private collection they were handed down after a death in family, never bought any of it all where collected through 3 generations, sorry but out off her home saftey she wants me to show no pics or location, they knew watchell and dillman very well.

It could be a representation of a Turtle, but these types have always been called Lizard Effigies for a very long time.

Thats an awesome piece Trev.... Lizard effigy or turtle effigy is all I know from the books I've seen. Never held one in my hand yet!

Beautifull banded hardstone peice!...I would go with lizard,puts me in the mind of a plummet of some sort but its definately an effigy of some kind.
