Looks like sandstone, but more smooth... I don't really know what kind of rock it is.

badandy, dude you're slipping look close, most definately a turtle carving with the head cut off. First one I've ever seen I must say.. (still looks like soapstone though)

I took a good look at it... it's harder than soapstone... can't scratch it with a fingernail.

The origin of this was Lookout Valley near Trenton, Georgia. Found by my father about 1980.
