Two Days' Wages

First signal of the day at an Indian War site. It was a solid 33 in all directions on the Equinox so I had my fingers crossed. I never thought I'd find one of these. Considering basic enlisted pay was $13/month back then, this was a significant loss. Still in awe to find this.

Super find, congrats! They don't turn up often, but I have seen some military camps that have given up a lot of silver and gold, especially out west at camps that saw pay distributed. I have seen the finds, but never had a chance to hunt one of these spots.

Awesome!!! Love Seated Halves!!! Congrats!!!

Wow a San Fran mint way to go

The owner knew of at least one other half that came off this place...an 1867. It's a big spot so it could be scattered all over. Thanks!

Awesome coin!

Wow. Awesome find

I like Civil War stuff and an 1862 coin would be tops. Great find! Gary

Wow, that's a beauty, and a rare find at that. Congratulations on your treasure looking forward to what else you find

Great find, made right in the middle of the Civil War too. :occasion14:

Congrats,
Dave

Killer find! You're in a good year/activity range for gold coins, keep at it!

Congrats on an excellent coin find.

Nice going on the half. Congrats
It's in great shape, only a bit of wear on her. So it wasn't in circulation for that many years after being minted.

Terrific find! I only found one seated half, and it was a beat up boring 1876. Yours is a really nice one, good date and mintmark as well, and coming from a site like that must have made it an exciting recovery! Outstanding.
