Stopped by the local OLD library tonight for some lootin'. Found a 1917 wheat a few minutes in and then about a half hour or so later found my first OLD pocket spill. Pulled out my FIRST Indian Head penny ever and the thought just happened to cross my mind of a pocket spill. When I swung the coil back over got a signal, dug out a buffalo, another signal, another buffalo, then a couple wheats. After that a couple feet away found a 1951 dog tag. Then decided to call it a night. I was happy it was a successful hunt.

1917 wheat
1906 indian head
1919 wheat
1917 wheat (another)
1919 buffalo nickel
19?? buffalo nickel

Hey Jim

Nice finds

Looks like there is a lot more there to be found. Don't give up too early.

Back in the 50's when i collected coins ( yea, I'm an old codger) I bought an acid from Canada that worked on the stress levels of a coin and it would reveal the actual dates of buffalo nickels. I don't know if this stress acid is still available but i completed a complete set of buffalo nickels by using this liquid. Some of my nickels were in good shape and some were smooth dates but the acid would reveal the actual date. The police use such acids to reveal filed off serial numbers of guns or other items.

Thanks for sharing what you found

Some nice old finds there Jim and two good Firsts :)

In one of my (so far, few) MD hunts I have found two coins together and thought that was a treasure trove ;D

Keep on Hunting, Mike
