Found these this weekend in some sand under a tree trunk in the creek. I thought the shard was some of that rock that fakes like it's a shard and didn't realize until I washed it that it was a shard. Does anyone know what type of stone the flakes are? The gray one has black stripes running through it.

Your two bottom pieces look like flaking cast-offs, and the one on top doesn't look like it has any familiar working but I may be wrong.

Idk what kind of material I'm not good at material ID but it sure is pretty ;)

Thanks old digger and that's what I was thinking about the flakes, being cast offs...now if I could just find what they were cast off of. The top one is a pottery shard, which I found a lot of them in my creek.

painterx7, the gray one was so pretty underwater and I knew it was different, it was sort of iridescent and I know there's something special made from that stone somewhere out there in creek land lol

I bet your right and a point made from that stuff would b killer ;)

Quartzite flakes. Quartzite comes in many colors. Some call it sugar quartz due to it looking like it is grainy. Getting closer

...congrats Peaches...those are pretty! The shard looks "peach" colored...nice! Hope you're keep warm in that strange weather that's been down your way & keep safe if you have to be out in it as well! :)

You are doing good ,if you are finding these in a real sandy creek, try making a shifter and going thru some of the sand. I have a site that is on a lake edge, it's real sandy. You can sift sometimes for an hour and then a bird point will show up, never found anything larger than a bird point??? But sand is real easy to go thru. Nice finds :thumbsup:one day you are going to hit the jackpot.HH
