Two roman villa sites today

I hunted two sites this week and today which had once roman farms on them. The farms were abandoned in the 4th century and the residents took all valuables with them. So not much to find. Both must been wealthy because expensive pottery was found. The dark red shards on the pottery picture called Terra Sigillata and the little blackish one above the red ones is part of a wall tile, also a sign for a luxurious home. I got a roman plumb. My first! Two Follies and a lead plug from a small flask. Other finds were the usual stuff, but two very nice buttons turned up.

Someday the next gold will show up Tim and even without every minute in the fields detecting is pure fun!
The roman plumb is lead with the iron loop going completely through to make a more robust pointer at the bottom. The casings are newer 7.65 Browning. Don't know how they get there. Not very common. Police uses 9mm and most hunters have them too or .38 Special like the one on the same pic.
