I dug this today in Eugene Oregon. I assume that USCGR stands for United States Coast Guard Reserves.
There's a thumb/finger print on the back side. I am pretty sure it is silver. It is not marked but it came in higher than a quarter would on my Minelab eTrac . It measures 38 millimeters wide and 32 millimeters tall, and weights 12.3 grams.

Nice find. More than likely nickel, not silver.
There is a Herbert W. Judevine buried in Rest-Haven Memorial Park in Eugene. Died 23 Apr 1967. Also he was a SM2 US COAST GUARD RES. WW2. (SM2-Signalman Petty Officer 2nd Class or Special Mechanic Petty Officer 2nd Class.)
More info, such as composition of metal, size and how the finger print was etched on the back of this type of dog tag can be found here

Thats cool.
Never saw one of those before.
I didnt read the link but from my printing days Id would assume the print was etched with wax and sulfuric acid.

Congrats on the find and thanks Kentuckywonder for the info
