U.S. Mint issued Marksman medal

Hello!

It's been a while since I've had anything to share. I just came across this old medal that we've had for a while but I never noticed until now that it is marked U.S. Mint. I'm thinking that this could change its value entirely. I couldn't find anything about it in Google.

Maybe someone here recognizes it, or could find it where I couldn't?

This is a competition prize medal issued from 1881-1888. Version of this type are found in gold, probably plated, silver, and bronze. You could probably learn more by sending high quality images to various Army and other military museums and historical societies.
