I hope somebody can help. I found this item and nobody seems to know what it is. There aren't any maker's marks on it, only the name L.T. Taylor stamped on the 'spout' part of the top. There are 3 brackets on both sides of the container that may have been used for a carrying strap. In the spout, there are screens. One wide screen on the bottom with a fine screen on top of it. I hope to hear what this item is. Thank you!

Yes, It is stamped as opposed to engraved. There are periods after both the L and T.

I'm curious in photo #2 how the screen went in the artifact, almost as if something was screened before it went into the pot. I have seen similar copper items like this that was involved in making moonshine but that is only a guess.

It's shaped like it would hold milk. Interesting find :) Breezie

I'm guessing it's an old portable coffee pot. Maybe it was carried with leather straps by a soldier or something. If you tell me where it's from I can look it up on ancestry.com.

I think it is a milking bucket, if you have ever milked a cow you would find that little spout not only handy for pouring, but a nice splash-guard while your milkin ole Betsy. :laughing7:
