Ummm...is this possible?

[I've got the bug]

I found this bicentennial today, which looks silver, but it doesn't have an s mint mark. It weighs exactly 11.5 grams and I weighed another bicentennial that weighs 11.3 grams.

Is this a known error? Did I stumble upon a rare error? Or is this not possible?

The weight is correct, but the edge of the coin should have a clad layered look to it. I bank on plated.

Yeah, I've never seen a 40% look like that on the edge. I was just stumped by the weight.

Hmmm, the plot thickens. I'll see if anyone else chimes in, but I think everyone is probably right about it being plated. I'm going to keep it because it's unusual.

I tend to think that a silver coin would weigh a little more than only a .2 gram difference vs clad.
