My son and I got permission to hunt a site with a house built in the 1750's, didn't expect much but it had potential. Initially we were finding lots and lots of iron trash and junk. After only a few minutes of hunting my son turned around and said " oh my god dad, come here". What he found was what appeared to be a wreath from a confederate tongue and wreath buckle! We were both extremely excited but had to remain somewhat subdued since other diggers were around. After getting home we checked with a friend who is a very experienced digger with a great refernce library. Our excitement went through the roof when we determined that this most closely matched either a Louisiana or Texas/Mississippi tongue and wreath!
We haven't been back to the site yet, but expect to hopefully next weekend. I'll let you know if we find the other half!
