My original plan was to order $1000 in half dollars from our primary bank, but I found out that they are required to remove silver from any coins they process. I wondered why I never found silver in any machine rolled halves I got there! So I ordered from another bank where I've had some luck, $1000. Second roll, a 40% Kennedy popped out and I thought that was a good sign! Before long, I had a Walker, a Franklin and a small pile of Kennedys. After the first box, I had an assortment of 29 silver halves! Could the second be as good? How about better?! I ended up with four Walkers, six Franklins, nine 90% Kennedys and forty-one 40% Kennedys! $30 face out of $1000. I'm going on vacation next week and really wish I could order another couple boxes of halves!

I once knew someone who would go to federal banks and buy rolls of quarters, dimes, and halves. He'd open them up and return those that weren't silver. He got tons of silver this way. This was back in the 80s.

And you didn't have to fight the summer heat and humidity to find them! Nice!

I should have been doing this a long time ago! I used to CRH for wheat pennies; I should have been going after the halves!
