Underwater detector assist needed

I'm getting back into metal detecting after many years (more than 10). I am looking to purchase an underwater metal detector. Previously used an Minelab Excalibur. The cables have all dry rotted. Looking for any suggestions for a good quality underwater detector. My avitar that was my scoop called scoopzilla! It's an arm breaker!

I was using the XP Deus, with antennae.
I think it is rated to three meters.
It is wireless. And if you put antennae on it, you can be in your boat as you scan the bottom.
I could be about 15-20 feet away from coil and still have a good signal.
They sell eight feet antenna; I made my own 15 feet ones. It is just antennae wire.

For diving, the Excal is still the boss. The old Fisher CZ21 would work for that too. For shallower water, you can get away with the XP Deus, Minelab Equinox 900 or Manticore, and Nokta Legend.

If your Excal is still working, you can get new coils and headphones for it. Sometimes just the cables can be replaced.

Since you used the Minelab Excalibur before which is a classic one, you might want to check out some of the newer waterproof detectors that have come a long way in both performance and comfort.

• The OKM Pulse Nova PI Metal Detector is a great addition to your list—especially if you're looking for power and depth with a modern edge. This one uses pulse induction technology, which is perfect for saltwater and mineralized ground—so it handles tough environments like a champ. It’s lightweight, comes with interchangeable search coils, and can reach some serious depth compared to many VLF machines. While it's not a traditional scuba detector, it's ideal for shallow underwater searches (like wading or surf detecting) and handles wet beach sand like a pro.

If you’re doing deeper diving, something like the JW Fishers SAR-1 is better suited, the Pulse Nova is definitely worth considering. Plus, it’s from OKM—so you’re getting German engineering and premium build quality. And props on having a scoop called Scoopzilla, sounds like that thing means business!

If you're looking to avoid breaking your arm again, maybe consider a carbon fiber handle next time

Why buy a new when you can fix the cables with quality cable which will last many years, doing it yourself will cost you about 50 dollars..
