✅ SOLVED Unfired .32 S&W casing with tapered opening?

Found this in the yard today. It's obviously a .32 S&W. But the tapered opening is something I've never seen before. Ideas?

Either a blank round or a snake shot round. For snake shot there would have been a paper overshot wad against the inside of the mouth rim, to hold the shot in the cartridge.

That seems to be it. Thanks. I didn't know blanks came like that. I just assumed they were all crimped shut.

No risk, I have about 2,000 of them in my basement (for reloading)...it would sound like a cap gun if yours went off. Plus it's probably inert anyways from being in the ground.

Nah. Not unless you stick it into a gun. Soak it in water if you are still nervous about it.

The best way to kill an old primer is to put a few drops of any kind of penetrating oil in it.
