Only had about 3 hours today between episodes of the deluge currently dampening Virginia. But I'm very happy with 3 buttons and 3 bullets in 3 hours. This camp is so strange in that you are as likely to find buttons as bullets. So I thought I had FOUR buttons. Got back to the house and cleaned on the last one VERY carefully. Looked like just a button face, but it had a rough surface. Like dimpled. As I cleaned more aggressively It began to come apart. It seemed almost fibrous. I wondered if I had a rare rubber button. Then it came to me. I spent 10 minutes cleaning an acorn cap.

It's tough to find a good solid acorn cap button these days, the dirt really does a job on them...:laughing7:. Otherwise, great hunt.

Nice hunt. Acorn buttons are very rare. If you find one intact it will make banner for sure.

OK, so after that New Hampshire yankee made a smart aleck comment, I was going to reply "Typical Yankee Smart Aleck." But then a Missouri westerner disappoints me with a similar snide remark . . . then Horror of horrors . . . not one, but THREE southerners jump on the "make fun of the confused preacher" bandwagon!! Everything I thought I knew about the world is wrong.

cool relics. I've got four live oak trees in my yard. this year, they have produced more acorns than ever before. so far I have put at least 300 lbs of them in the trash and probably have 600 lbs or more to go. I hate them, and I'm sure the trash guys hate me.
