United Confederate Vetrans Reunion Metal

I found this at a old 1900's country store site. I first thought it was a old spark-plug gapper but tossed it into my bag anyway. I got home and started cleaning up a couple Indian Head cents 1900 and a 1888. I decided to give this object another look and noticed some lettering embossed around the center circle. I started brushing it with a fine brass brush and was quite amazed at what I had found. (that's the good part about having bad eyesight, I get 2 suprizes for the same item, when I first dig it and then after I take it home to look at it under my magnification light.) It turned out to be a 1902 United Confederate Veteran's Reunion badge. I can't find any info on this particular one. I think it might have once held a medallion in the center hole. Any info on this will be greatly appreciated.

That's a wonderful find. All that I can add is that it had a Confederate flag in the center and a more complete one would look like this.

Way cool old relic there. I never throw anything away. I not only can't trust my eyes but, I don't want to throw out a Spanish Cob thinking it a chunk of aluminum.

Thats a very nice find. Thats why I dont throw anything away until I have made it home, and can verify what it is. There have been some instances when I think its junk out in the field, only to get home and realize it is something worth keeping. Glad you didnt pitch it.
