United? Untied? Unded? No clue on this one.

Hey, folks!

I found this peculiar object in the same field I found my first Large Cent on the same night (Friday). It appears to be made out of copper or brass, with silver plating, and it has a word on one side. There is a hole in the peg if you can call it that, I do not know if it is threaded or not. That's all I know about it. Oh, it's 2" long.

Certainly looks like it says UNITED to me. However, clueless as to what it was.
