Does anyone know what this is? I found it in the mud on the riverbank. Arrowheads were found by others on the same river in Massachusetts. This is my first time on TreasureNet. Thanks, Ray
Welcome to Treasure Net Ray. More than likely a Native American piece. Congratulations

Not sure. I've seen some bark beaters before with those lines, but they are normally deeper and cover more area. Used in turning plant fibers into basketry material.

Does the rock look normal for your area?

well, the lines are straight but not parallel, that's interesting. They do not appear to be natural, and the scratches on the sides seem purposeful too. Is there a ceramics tradition in your area? I could see such an item used to burnish unfired clay pots.
