That is really interesting. Is it a thin piece of stone?
 

Thinking just natural but can you show pics of front and back and close up of hole on both sides as well. Neat def would have picked it up myself for a closer look.
 

There is a possibility that it is a soapstone ornament, that is water worn in creek. Do you have steatite in your area? Hole looks countersunk like it could have been drilled, my opinion and I have been wrong before.
 

Does the hole look drilled too you ? Could have been a pendant or something if that nature it's odd how the stone almost is the same size and shape on both sides,..... If it had been in the water would it have possibly worn any drill marks away? I'm sure somebody with more knowledge will chime in

The hole doesn't look drilled to me... leaning natural def interesting rock
 

does look like what was growing in there cracked it
