Does anyone know what this is? It's about 2 1/8" long x 7/8" wide at the bottom (it tapers towards the tip). I believe it is made out of a thin sheet of steel. The tip is slightly rounded, its not flat. The cutout looks like it was made that way. I think it is a cover for something, maybe a cane or a flag pole, etc? Any ideas? Thanks!

It kinda looks like part of a shot and powder measure, used in a muzzleloader. Not sure of course but that is my opinion. Tennessee digger

Look kinda like a reed protector to put on a musical instrument when not in use.
