Unknown fossil?

Ok, here's a fossil I found off of Lake Michigan. There were numerous tiny shells and tiny fossils, then I found this. I looked under mollusk but it doesn't seem to fit, nor does clam or oyster, not the way it was formed but I could be wrong. It was barely showing in the stone and over the years I have been VERY carefully cleaning away at it and have gotten it down to the pictures shown.

Width about 7\8 in
height 5\8 in
length 1 1\4 in

I think they could be in Mich too. I just mentioned this to someone who has a whole bag full from the same shore off lake Mich. Being how they are so common, we cracked it open :laughing7: Oddly enough there was only a small stone, shiny enough to be a diamond, in the middle and the rest was fossilized rock. I have no idea what my son did with the two halves but yes, they are quite common :tongue3:
