Unusual Brass Pin or Badge Update Its a Hat Pin!

Unusual Brass Pin or Badge *Update* It's a Hat Pin!

I found this today in the front yard of the old Columbus Town Hall. It's signed by the maker and looks as if the pin at the back may have originally been straight out from the back as opposed to bent at a 45 degree angle? :icon_scratch:

If anyone can tell me it's original function, age or is familiar with the maker, I'd very much appreciate it!

History

Built in 1859 the former East-Whitby Town Hall. The Town Hall was used as a hall for the community of Columbus and the office and Chambers for the East-Whitby Township until 1973.

It's pretty small though for a curtain tieback or hook? :icon_scratch:

It's made out of stamped brass and kinda looks to me like it might've been a brooch of some kind? :dontknow:

Just an opinion, but because of the length of the pin maybe a hat pin ?

Wearing that as a broach or even a hat pin could lead to a very prickly situation. Where's that Breezie girl, she'll know for sure. Probably stuck her finger with one just like it!

If some of the bends are supposed to be there, and I'm leaning that way now, then curtain hook it could be. :dontknow:
