Unusual fossils from my grandpa's collection-need help with ID please!

These fossils belonged to my grandpa. He was an arrowhead collector and often brought fossils home, too.
I thought I would post these and see if anyone knew what they were? Are they parts of plants or animals ?
Any help would be appreciated and thanks for looking!!! Kind regards~~sandcreek4

Re: Unusual fossils from my grandpa's collection-need help with ID please!

the ones on top of the ruler are some type of straight cephalopod, but i'll let the experts narrow it down from there...

They are both definitely cephalopods.

The top one is a straight shelled nautilus (orthocone?), possibly of Pennsylvanian age or older. That other freaky thing almost looks like a starfish arm with the alternating bits but can't see one of those fossilising like that. Maybe it's a weird crinoid part..

Yes could you post a pic of the end of the odd one please? Up close?

Thanks

Thanks LanceHall and Masasaurfiend for helping with this--here's some closer shots of the end and sides.
I kinda thought "crinoid" too when I first looked at it but its square instead of round :icon_scratch:.

Wonder if corn has been around long enough to be fossilized? ;D I always thought it looked like a spinal cord or something :icon_scratch:. Thanks allen!
