I found this just last week along with a tomahawk, a Kirk arrowhead, and some other unusual Archaic forms. These are my most recent finds. I found them in NC near Pilot Mountain. I actually posted them on the Artifact Forum and the thread was locked b/c they said I posted a natural rock (it was off topic). Since then, I went to a local collector and I was told that this was a tool indeed. However, due to the fact that very little evidence of human alteration is noticeable, an expert would suggest naturally made anyway. With the knowledge I have about artifacts, most are never perfect and they generally show a lot of age and weathering, even more as time progresses. That's a brief way to explain an authentic artifact. In my opinion, this was a stone saw made of a metavolcanic material or a metamorphosed sandstone. I'm still not certain. From what I researched about a tool like this, it is at least 4,000 years old. The reason I am posting here is to share this significant find(s) with you all too. I believe the area I found this has an unusual occurrence of stones/materials as it is. Unusual meaning that some I observed normally don't occur there in nature. Occurrence meaning that it is found more than once, found in a general area. I have hunted that area for 5 years and found some collectable stones/materials, some of good quality and some of less quality. Most are found in a way to suggest that natural erosion/processes situated them there; that is the most evident explanation. I will be doing more hunting in that area in the near future. Overall, I just enjoying seeing what Mother Nature creates, that is what makes this hobby so interesting. Thanks for viewing and good luck hunting to everyone!

Nice finds bmartin0693. But wow - your hobby is a tough challenge figuring out what is man-made real and what isn't...

Thanks! I want to make a correction on that tomahawk form; it was probably used more as a hatchet b/c of it's larger form. I know this b/c of the other tools I've found and I know how people worked in nature here thousands of years ago. A tomahawk is designed more lightweight, like to be used as club-style weapon. I have a picture of a tomahawk I found and made right here. I'm not finished with it yet, so you will see it's held with rubber bands. Lol. It's a great show-in-tell piece anyway.
