UPDATE back to the Hedgerow BUCKLE ID'd 1850 PreCivil War Navy Belt Plate Buckle

BenC2 and I went back to the Hedgerow spot, not much luck in the way of old coins a few wheats each, then the Civil War relics started showing up!!!!! Ben dug half a 3 ringer, I dug a gilted Civil War Eagle tongue buckle I think? If anyone knows what it is let me know!

We then beat feet to a farm house all I got was a crappy spoon.

Then BenC2 thought of another spot in Jamestown, NC, there is a lot of history in that area. I found a nice 3 Ringer Civil War bullet! ;D This is my first 3 ringer bullet, and between us both we managed 3 bullets today....great hunt.......nice relics for a change!!!!

Happy Hunting

Very nice. That eagle looks like a tounge that would go in my Wreath buckle. HH

went back to the Hedgerow..and wandered the county...found a CW 2-Piece Buckle?

done dug it all up said:
Looks pre-war to me. 1850s Navy tongue there I think. But probably saw CW use. man thats a great find.

-done dugit

the strange thing about the buckle is the "disc" part is concave on the back, and it still has some "gilt" still on it, and appears to be cast other than brass, i am real unsure what it is or when.........i wonder if it is the same material as other 2-Piece Tongue Sword Buckles most buckles i've seen don't look like they are "gilt"

any info would be cool...
