I took the coin to a expert he ID it as a bee stag 212 BC to 227 BC copper and bronze and !! its very rare to even find something like that here in NY 7 inches down >? let alone in Athens , makes me wonder the history on this one . he told me hold on to it keep it safe and that i will do . The bee is the symbol of the city of Ephesis, site of one the seven ancient wonders of the world, the Temple of Artemis. Great find! Kane 23

Amazing to find BC coins in the USA. Maybe someone back in the 18th or 19th century was a collector, or they carried it around for good luck? Fun to think about the possibilities.

Cool... but don't you mean rare to find in Athens, let alone NY? Not something that happens often but does. I know someone who found three Greek coins.
