Updated GTI 2500

I have a GTI that is about 4 years old now.

Question is, has Garrett made any significant modifications to the software or hardware over the last few years, and if so, can they update mine?

I'm very happy with my machine- no problems.

Just wondering...

I believe it was 5+ years ago......they upgraded a chip to make the GTI Series much more stable in highly mineralized soil. The upgrade was available for everyone for a fee. I sent mine in for the upgrade, however, my soil around Edmonton is quite neutral and as a result, the GTI didn't perform any better. There were reports however, some From Australia and US where there was a substantial improvement in highly mineralized areas. Moral of the story....don't get the upgrade unless you are detecting in highly mineralized soil. And, by the way, you just may have the upgrade with your GTI 2500. Write your serial number down and call Garrett as they will tell you if you do/don't have that upgrade. Here's the number. 1 800 527 4011
