US Emblem

Good day all,
I've renovated a Georgia home circa 1946 that was built on the site of a farm home that burned down that year or just before. I was fortunant to chat with the man who built my house for his father after the fire.
It seems that their family owned a large parcel of land that has been slowly divided (you know how it goes) and I now live on the 3 acres that the original home is on.

Anyway, I was detecting in the front yard & found this US Emblem about 2-3" down and as you all seem very capable I am interested to know if you can tell me what it's for?

Great find! It's a Civil War period U.S. Cavalry bit rosette.

I actually knew that, I just wanted to see how long it would take you guys to figure it out I hope you don't mind the challenge.
