The first 100 is free. You pay for additional 200 for a total of 300 in insurance. So you should buy 300 but will be charged for 200.

When you ship flat rate/priority it says "With Priority Mail® you get USPS Insurance up to $100 free."

So if a customer wants insurance on say a $300 item, do you purchase an additional $200 in coverage or do you have to purchase a full $300?

Joe

You get $100 on flat rate? Never knew that - it's only $50 on regular priority.

I thought it was $50 as well, it must have just recently changed

Its $100 if I print at home through eBay/Paypal. Its only $50 if I take the same flat rate package to the Post Office and pay the postage. So it makes it worth it for me to print at home.

I thought it was $50, but the last label I printed it said it was $100. I could be wrong!

i've seen free insurance for both amounts, not sure if they were flat rate or not.

It's always good to go to the actual source for information like this- Great USPS news?especially for sellers using eBay Labels?free insurance, faster service, and more! | eBay Announcement Page

or

USPS eBay Shipping Zone: Overview

All sellers who ship using any Priority Mail service automatically receive $50 worth of FREE insurance for their shipments.
"Top Rated Sellers" and Platinum and Titanium PowerSellers who use eBay Labels for Priority Mail services receive $100 worth of FREE insurance.
