Does anybody know what these coils are (were)? I don't believe they were actual artifacts as I read in one of the numerous news articles that I've read, that they were minted from gold recovered from the USS C A ...
So were they some sort of commemorative tchotchke or souvenir?
Do we know what they might look like? Weight? Purity?
