I pretty much just see rocks you can find anywhere.

Yeah like Europe. Lol. You have to take me on my word but all from one root ball. You might be right, I might be crazy.

It's hard to look at pics and say yea or nay sometimes Fred. A lot of the ID goes to the history and context of the place. I have found examples where they used the locally available material, and they were pretty crude looking, but it was all they had to work with.

Last one a little graver. There are plenty more though. Thanks for playing along and not sending it to geofact. Happy new year!

Whatcha seeing to call them artifacts?

What appears to be purposefully broken quartz with edges suitable for use as tools. Such as would be produced and used at sites where turdstone like that was all that was available.

Paleo stuff, but they didn’t use the turdsrtone? Even I am thoroughly confused. Like I saw in one of your posts and have read, local lithics were more prevalent in paleo than thought. Also bipolar was in play IMO.

The did use what was available, of course.

There was no one-size-fits-all-cases strategy. Sometimes saved the good stuff for points & used second choice material for tools. Other times, like Paleo Crossings & Shoop, tool stone was imported from hundreds of miles away.

I appreciate your opinions more than most as you seem to see it the way I do. I understand now just because it looks primitive doesn’t mean it is. The quality of stone dictates the artifacts produced and knapping strategies used. Time frame’s
are dictated by what could made with what was available. Just because it looks old doesn’t mean it is.

And as the local experts I would like to see Charl’s or MA Muckers opinions. But I may have blown that, No hard feelings I get it , came on a little too strong.

I'm sorry but I've been collecting relics for 51 years and all i am seeing is rocks.

I hear ya I hope you let it marinade here before you move it, no need to be sorry. I disagree but no hard feelings whatsoever. I wouldn’t see tools if someone else posted it either, but I’ve been researching this for over a decade and feel I’m on to something. Like I said, one tree root ball for all that and more on a known site. Happy New Year to all.

You don’t see NA artifacts, not what I’m really claiming this to be, but who knows

How many different tool forms look a’like’s could come from one spot. Don’t forget the burin which has many near identical pics on the net. I’m sorry to say but It seems most Need to do some research on paleo and old world stuff. Not trying to come off as a know-it-all cause that is far from the truth, but I’ve shown a burin and limace and some other likely
Paleo stuff and get no credit. T’is what it is.

Im good, knew it would go this way but I was off for The week and thought I had enough knowledge to defend my case a little. I guess it’s back to the grind next week, Indiana Jones’ job is safe. I really appreciate your comments.

UpNorth, I apologize, taking a situation out On an individual. I really want to play nice but have my own issues, I see where your coming from but I don’t agree. I hope we can let it go.

Have a great night Fred250! No need to get your shackles raised.

Are rocks relatively rare in your area? Round here we have nothing but lots of shallow bedrock with many fractured rocks that could be used or imagined as used due to their shape. Maybe a few were.

Your on the list
