heading to Virginia beach in a few weeks is it legal to metal detect on the ocean front and if so any pointers to witch area to go to would be apricated.Thanks

Yes its all legal at V.Beach .Best areas are between 1st street & 40th street(that's where the most people hang out on the beach).I'm sure you'll see others Hunting the beach. good luck.
Its a "target Rich Environment"

And all streets on the main drag(1st to 40th street in the boardwalk area) have beach access .
