The high water has prevented hunting for gold. So, my attention is now directed to making a new sluice where either Concentrate or stratified material is spooned in the top of the sluice and remove gold with a few grains of other material that got past the Trap. The waste material is eliminated out the Drain Tube. This is my final goal. For now, the challenge is achieving the goal by testing, study the results, and fix each problem. Challenge #1 PVC tubing and fittings with 2" Plexiglas rod and tubing don't fit together. Solution: Use a 1952 vintage Logan lathe to cut, thread, and fit everything together, solved. Challenge #2 after the ideas are converted from thoughts, assemble the sluice and test-test to find problem areas, Verify by testing that the problem(s) are 100% resolved. Now, using the working prototype, employ Value Engineering principles to make the Vertical sluice less costly to make, improve features, easier to make, and simplify. Ebay is turning out to be the go-to source for materials as is our local farm store.
