Very odd handmade elephant? artifact

I found this today in an area I was finding civil war relics. I have no idea if it is old, new, or what it is. Looks old and is handmade. Has some metal on it. Any ideas??

What originally jumped out at me, but maybe I'm wrong, is that if you turn that first picture 90 degrees CCW it looks like a mermaid or woman like a figurehead on the front of a ship. Anyone else see that? I think there's multiple figures in this. Sorta' Meerschaum like.

That was my original thought as well when I saw pic #1 - a ship's figurehead - a woman with her hands behind her neck. But the subsequent pics didn't show the requisite parts (boobs). I'm also thinking it is meerschaum.

I searched for a while to find a CW period pipe of similar style. "Luckily" I didn't find one. Although there are plenty of examples of meerschaum erotica pipes both old and new.

Looking at it objectively, it's very well carved with nice detail, classic stoner motif of fantasy figures.

I'm totally sure it would be of interest to a collector, with the legal weed states happening.

It's not a cheap piece of smoking equipment, and I would be very sad if I had lost it.

I have a opium pipe made of brass from 1900 ish Ive made some pretty crazy pipes in my day I haven't always been a pillar of the community!!!!!!
