I found this today in an area I was finding civil war relics. I have no idea if it is old, new, or what it is. Looks old and is handmade. Has some metal on it. Any ideas??

Actually ive been a little harsh. Its a cool find, but gnomes creep me out to begin with, and this little pole stroker is really wierd. I would stay away from all parts of it. Lol !!! Sorry nolanation. Great work with the detector finding it. It must have been the weed gnomes that won the war for the north. Bet you were expecting a Minnie ball not a weed gnome.

It's Jesuit symbolism. I don't expect you to understand it. It's a one of a kind. The way you hold it will give you a different meaning. Yes that is a male appendage on it and a story behind it. It kind of tells a story if you know their work. It's about how gold and silver will ruin your life. You will have a life of sex and lust. I'm not bsing you. Im Trying to teach an unknown part of the history. Very nice piece if you found it.

Could it be old with a metal tube running down the middle as seen? Not sure what the gnome is made out of, but not metal.

I don't think it's very old. The glued in plastics eyes make it fairly modern.

Still a cool piece though. If it can be cleaned up enough, I'd smoke a bowl just so I can say I did, then put it on display. What a conversation starter!

Probably fired clay. I've found many clay fired onto metal pieces on a site I worked.

A masturbating gnome pipe is Jesuit?

Yes, kinda hard to believe I know. It's more about the symbolism. There are more meaningful thing on it than that. It just the most noticeable. It's a reference to sex and lust and the troubles that come from greed. It's seen on most of their treasure sites. It's not displayed as open as that but have seen similar. That's not all you will see on A site . Many references to Satan and all his ways. I've seen gnomes and other mystical creatures featured. The way you hold it wi show another side of things. The stones are also done that way. It's a history not taught at least not yet. Been trying to get the word out with much resistance. They did a lot of good things. There is a dark side that is still not understood. Some say that there were two kinds. That part I'm not sure of. I do know black magic was used on some sites. I'm on a dark site now ,well has both. There were a cult of natives that practiced the dark arks and maybe they were among them for that reason. Can't find this in your history book. You can look up the native part. It's in your state AlabamaRelic

VERY hard to believe. Mostly impossible.

It looks Vermont 1972 stoneware to me.

Though it certainly is a conversation piece!
