Viking excavation part 1

That is really exciting. Are you an archeologist or do you just do this as a hobby?

I´m just a metaldectorist, and do it as a hobby...

Oh my! I've watched and enjoyed several of your videos over the last year and this time I have to post something.
You deserve many praises for this! How many treasure hunters would have the extreme patience to refrain from ripping and tearing up all those good signals?
Not many at all (including me) and now look at this important discovery that will be properly excavated by archaeologists. No information will be lost and much will be learned.
I can't wait to see what comes out of there! Many kudos to you MisterTell :notworthy:
You do this hobby a great service!
Cheers,
Dave.

Nice finds! Thanks for sharing...

So is it a man & horse burial together?

Very exciting - Can't wait to see what all is unearthed there ! Thank You for giving us a glimpse into the "dark ages "

Great work with the archies! Keep us updated!

What and where are you digging? That red pottery stuff looks like broken Roman samian ware.

There are 2 other parts of this posted. It was a burial in Scandanavia with metal goods, a spear, and a falchion-like sword.

Nice history man from a Norwegian cousin from across the Viking lake!

Thanks for all the nice comment .. what they think now that it is viking rider grave. They are the most rare, it will be the northern ever found. it also seems to be unusually rich. and it is never before found the horse harnesses where the skin in straps still is intact. I hope they start the full excavation next week. 20140729_140830_resized-2.webp20140729_135349_resized.webp20140729_134003_resized_1.webp

awesome history unfolding in the dirt!

Your finds on your Youtube channel are crazy awesome! I've been watching them the last few days. I like how you're really calm finding stuff from the 1600 & 1700's. Great work.

Those other two videos must be a different burial. The items look different. The items on the surface look unusual, and particularly rich in nature.

The reason that the items look different is that they were used at various places on the harness. and some of it can also be Personalized equipment .. with so many signals over the entire area, it may also be that there are more graves.
hope that the excavation starts this week.

I and other archaeologists find detecting a fun hobby - I volunteer for Passport In Time projects
Welcome to Passport in Time
where, often, you can find a dig or a project that involves metal detecting

I wish we had finds like that in America. Very historical finds!
